First question, I bought from a local shop a week 32 2014 tire and it is currently week 47 in 2016 and the tire was $60 for a Pirelli Angel GT. They take good care of their tires, so it was stored in a cool dry place. Think the tire is safe even if I install and use it around week 30 of 2017? I did.

Does the rubber feel hard in comparison to a newer tyre?

Yea you will be good. Wouldn't think dealers would let tires go that old. That dealership you got them at store their tires well. Also the tire isn't used and never mounted. Be diff if it was used in a bike sitting in freezing for years. Just ride more! Worry less.
