So I've finally made time to do up a little report and I actually made a point of enjoying the day and also taking some pics to give some visual to what I've been up to. Also needed to officially introduce my newest girl....
So a few weeks back I finally pulled the trigger on what most people are classing as an "adventure" bike. To me, it's just an oversized dirt bike with shit suspension for unfit ageing blokes who lack the skills to enduro ride anymore... it's a used 2007 R1200gs.
Well I've managed to get it out a few times for day trips of mixed road types but for the most part I'm aiming to be offroad.
To my surprise it's actually quiet good on the blacktop aside from a little ground clearence issue but pegs scrape and it's still alot of fun. As far as offroad goes, it's pretty good as long as I don't treat it like an enduro bike...to much.
So a couple of days ago, I decided that I'd worked more than was required of late and the day was so good it would be criminal to waste it at the office. Packed up my day pack with nothing but the essentials,
*Water
*Banana + apple
*A few tools
*Small amount of bud and a pipe
And of course my phone. Setting out from home with a full tank and fuel range of 350kms I set out to do quiet a big loop into the local state forests and sticking to mainly dirt forest roads we call firetrails.
So I get to the entry to the forest in around 25 minutes of blacktop and cruise in until I see the first trail shooting off into the scrub and think, fuck it. So I trundle down a track that continues to get narrower, steeper and more suited to a dirt bike so I pike out and spin around. Shut the bike off and listen to the birds and the breeze in the trees. Mid week, nobody around so I figure a small pipe won't hurt and I thought it was as good a spot as any
So after 10 minutes of soaking it all In a strap on the lid and get to fanging around... truth be told I was emerssed in the ride and the looks and smells of the forest after we've had so much rain. I stopped here and there and took a few pics and probably put the big girl in some compromising spots but I was having a ball.
Spent the better part of the day riding and I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story
