The Pirelle Angel GT tires..... it's time to retire them.
The past two weekends I have been able to override the tires with the optimal air pressure optimal Highway temperatures ,everything suspended well(still a couple weigjt losstweaks) so it looks like I am ready to change out the GTS for mileage for something that's quite a bit stickier.
Who has a actularyl sticky but wont square off going to the grocery store.
I need your feedback and recommendations. At this time, mileage is a non factor. If I get through summer ill be thrilled.
Best Dennis

Stay clear of the Metzeler M7RR, sliding party (front and rear) at the edge. Up in the Mountains no prob, but as soon i ride at the lower elevation parts where it is much warmer, and i ride hard, this c... slides all over the place.
Guess i test the new Dunlop Q3+ tires, thought first i get the Angel GT....but since you have probs with them they won't work for me^^.
The M5, and M5/Z8 combo i had before never had this sliding prob.....maybe i just got a bad set M7RR's!?

Probably! I read about a new sport touring tire that is suppose to be very good....the new Mettler roadtech 01....but if the Angel GT are not enough I bet he will need the Q3!

But saw a video review about the PP RS, and seemed to be a good tire. Pirelli and Metzeler are one company, and many tires are close to identical, and produced in the same factory....like the Z8 and Angel GT.

Q3+ if I lived in canyons. S21 on my shitty roads. I live in a resort community up in the Mountains (Big Bear CA), i am surrounded by twisties and canyons^^. No straight road within 60 miles....touring tires won't cut it up here for fun.

i managed to chew up a PR4 in under 3k this time , need something a bit more aggressive with better even wear also, unfortunately we have a lot of slab to get to the twisties so the centers always take a hit but even with 200-300 miles a weekend of corners the sides never catch up to the weekday commute making for dreadful transitions in the turns. i think next set ill go back to the 2CT not much mileage from the rear but true and tested and cheap .

M7rr, S21 or rosso would be my best guesses, although the m7 was semi ruled out above. They'll all handle some straight lining but offer more grip than the sport touring varieties. Other than that, you are looking into street/track tires like the rs10 and q3 with short lives. Going to be hard to find a good compromise here, I'd expect anything that grippy to square off quickly.

But..... How? Are you running real low pressures? The center line on a pr4 should easily last long than that.

I'm guessing tire pressures are being run at a more sport tire pressure setting.. the side siping and tread would always shred horribly when I used them. They were good all around tires for majority of riders but when you dropped pressures they seem to just get eaten up. I quit using them and lost confidence when riding hard. I figured it was from accelerating out of corners as the bike stood up. The sides seemed to be pretty hard and it was hard to have the tire evenly wear.

i am going to kill this set by dropping them 3 lbs front 4 lbs back. I hope to get a touch more traction. Once they are killed, I am considering Dunlops new multi compound super sport tourer tire that Eric found.
I havent ridden much but for weekends. I am thouroughly done with loosing the bike due to limited traction.
Summer is closing in and I plan to ride 3-4 days a week to the office. Save mileage on car and get my grins.
Ill likely go sticky over mileage. I dont like picking myself up off the tarmac....

well i guess im going s21 , just picked up a set for 200 bucks I wouldn't run them less than 34 psi. Especially on the FZ8. On my gsxr I'm running 34 front and 36 rear...lots of shredding on the 2 compounds BUT I did like 34 rear(grip wise) even though I felt the tires were gaining a lot of psi... but it was eating away my tire in the middle i felt...that or the topping out and hard accelerations out . Hmm.... 36 psi on hot almost 90 degree day are predictable if the rear gets slippery.
