I'm hoping Suzuki, but they have to drop Abraham and get some talent in the team!

I concur, Zarco or Rossi would be my pick if they go the Suzuki route. Both could benefit from a non-factory team Suzuki and the team would do well to sign someone like that that is capable of competing on a bike that requires their style of riding.
I still think a healthy Rabat on a half decent bike can be in the top ten mix consistently.

www.crash.net/motogp/news/926220/1/rossi-i-cant-wait-be-back-trackValentino Rossi 'can't wait to be back on track' at Brno this weekend, 2020 MotoGP preparations start at the Monday test.During his MotoGP heyday, Valentino Rossi always enjoyed going into the summer break with a victory, so he could avoid spending the holidays dwelling on a bad result (as occurred at the hands of Sete Gibernau during the final corner of the 2003 German GP).
On the basis of his recent track performances, the 2019 summer break won’t have been the easiest for Rossi, who dismissed talk of being too old after three successive DNFs were followed by a mere eighth place at Sachsenring.
Rossi began the season with runner-up finishes in two of the opening three races, but momentum has swung increasingly towards team-mate Maverick Vinales and rookie satellite Yamaha star Fabio Quartararo.
Perplexed at being 20-seconds slower than his own race-pace last season in Germany, Rossi said: "I feel good. I feel concentrated. I feel motivated. But I don't have the touch with the bike… We need to find a way. We need to find 'our' bike.
"It looks like the bike needs a different setting compared to last year. But looks like for me and also for Franco [Morbidelli] it's more difficult to use this type of setting, that is more where Maverick and Quartararo are very strong. So, we need to try to understand."[/i] Anyone else read that like "I'm not old but I'm slower because the bike is setup for the fast guys and not the VR46 academy guys?" I can't even see how Fabbio's bike would be comparable in reality? In all honesty, the GOAT is becoming the best merch selling excuse maker the sport has ever seen in my opinion. He either puts up or shuts the fuck up. If you're the slowest Yamaha, you're not likely to head up the direction the bike takes or have the excuse of it being the bike. Half a season in and he's "perplexed"? What's perplexing is the fact he's mentioned Morbedelli in that conversation like he's been struggling. Franco has been clinical in my opinion and has been improving consistently. Rossi has been going backward. Happy to see him win or do better but one thing is certain, the rest of the season will be telling. If he finishes the year off the way it ended prior to the break, do they really retain him on the factory bike? Franco or Fabbio run in to form, are they to be denied a seat at the big table so that Rossi can see himself through another year?

Have you seen the photos of him on the boat with his mrs, he doesn't look to be dwelling on his results too much hahaha Even without winning he is the rider selling bikes for yamaha, and drawing crowds! He is also currently ahead of Franco and Fabio in the championship and just behind Mav, so I don't think they will cut him loose before his contract is up. I would expect him to retire when his contract is up next year though, and the VR46 MotoGP team compete in 2022. It will be interesting if Yamaha drop Petronas and go his team, or field 4 satellite bikes but either way I dont think rossi will field anything else. Next year should be a big mix up, Id love to see Marc on a Ducati (I cant see anyone else having the $ for him), Rins on the Honda and Fabio on the Suzuki!

Yeah I've seen him with "his mrs" but I still think it's all for show haha.
Don't know about selling bikes, not many people I've ever met have bought a Yamaha because Rossi rides one. Stickers, helmets, leathers etc maybe but mostly ticket sales I'd suggest.
He maybe ahead now, we'll see how that ends up... Fabio is making him look pretty fucking ordinary and if the trend continues, Rossi will be lucky to end in front of Cal.
He doesn't need to be riding to sell the Yamaha brand or promote the sport in my opinion. How many bikes do you reckon they sold after Rossi's home GP this year? How many Yamaha's do you think he's sold in the last two years with his "ahhhh de bike is ehhhh not a so good and arrives very slowly. Very ehhh disappointing for a me and ahhhh Yamaha". hahaha.
Fabio is not even on a level playing field with him yet, is in his rookie year and if Yamaha were smart they'd use a similar model to Honda in the way Marquez became their marque rider.
Your scenario is more probable but irritates fuck out of me hahaha! I reckon he's gone 2 seasons to long.
I'd love to see the sport get a new hero for the masses.
Marquez vs Quartararo vs Rins seems more likely to sell bikes to me. Ducatti needs a new hope too
