Started the new year off right. Day trip to the adirondacks Up at 3am, 300 mile drive, 5 hr hike, 300 mile drive back. Long ass day, but worth every second thanks to perfect conditions. Shitty cell pics will have to do, didn't drag the real cam along It's gets cold up top(that's a tree)

I watched the weather for a few days and was able to pick some unbelievably good conditions which helped a ton. In the 20s,little wind and sunny is basically a godsend in January.
Even with the weather, it was still a challenge. I couldn't get to my second summit, as I ran into a vertical wall of ice at least my height. The snowshoes and spikes I had just wouldn't cut it. Turning back sucks but it was the only responsible choice. I slipped a few times on the descent, which weren't too big or an issue thankfully. One slip led to a 15/20 foot slide and a banged forearm, but that's pretty much nothing compared to what *could* happen. Gotta have a respect for the mountain.
Fun fact, Sunday's forecast is -45f windchill up top with near hurricane force gusts.
