Decided to migrate from the other house. Looks like a bunch of the same folks, but for formailities sake... About to hit the big 3-0..have a 7 month old and transitioned to a 8-4 position that leaves me less time to ride. I've got a 2011 FZ8, 2005 Vmax, and 2005 Wr250f (street legal). My attention will probably be transitioning from bikes a little more towards cars. I'm looking to order a 2017 Wrx limited in the near future. Hoping I can get a halfway decent trade value for my car and it will be a done deal. Gonna fight the urge to go straight to stage 2, but we will see. Just looking forward to having a carbi enjoy again.

It went something like, why the hell do you need a dirt bike? Why not just put that money towards your truck? Ugh. And she's a rider too....

Enjoy almost everything about the fz8 more. Even the ride position is more comfortable. I'll probably hang on to it at least another season to see if my dad starts riding a bit more next year. He's building a garage this spring at his house about an hour north of me and if he gets into riding it I'll let him keep it there since I hardly ride it. After the divorce my mom kept the house with the 6 car garage that she parks a single car in now lol. I gotta get the bikes winterized as the end of the season snuck up on me.

I really haven't gone on near the adventures I want to. My area sucks for riding but I'm hoping to haul it a few hours north on a trip over the summer for a couple day trip. I actually contemplated buying a pick up just to be able to haul it, but I figured I'd enjoy a wrx more for day to day driving and currently have access to a express 1500 work van for hauling the bike the few times a year I'll probably be able to get away.

Ordered a 2017 Wrx limited a couple weeks ago...so excited. Bonus I was talking about my wheel options with my best friend. The wrx comes with 18 inch summer tires and I'll be taking delivery late January. We just got about 6 inches of snow here. I was contemplating getting snow tires for the 18s and looking for new wheels to remount the summer tires.
Well my buddy comes through huge. Has a set of winter wheels and tires from his last car in the basement same bolt pattern. Gonna throw a couple hundred at him even though he said I could just have them.
Only problem is now no rush to get new summer wheels. The stock wheels aren't actually terrible looking.

Ride and drive what you love and "borrow/rent" what you may only need on occasion. The V Max could be a really fun bike to drag race...if that is your thing. I personally dont get into straightline riding. It becomes a dick measuring contest, more about how much $ and free time than skill and endurance. You dont see obese road racers, MX riders, F1 drivers.... Not knocking anyone who like to drag.... Its kind of like tractor pulls in my head....... "Hell maan, I stomped on that there gas thingy......went strait, then I stopped her quick like". Did I tell you I have 4 of them gazillion HP engines? Yeah maan, it only go straight for 14 seconds and 301 feet. But hell maan, it only costed 18 times more then my mobile home........so FUCK YEAH!" "FULLLLLL PULLLLLLL!!!!"
"And Presedent Trump aint a lyin bout that global warming shit....hell maan....that big ol smokey black diesel cloud is what them polar bears need livin down there at the north pole with Santy Claws....Roll Coal Fuckers... WOOOoooooooooo! Where's my sister, errrr, my wife at? Woman ! ..... beer me bitch" - Billy Joe Bob Mike (The Rod Stroker) Tehachape Resides in a state where they add an "uh" at the end........... Straight from Missor-uh, Nebraska-uh, Texas-uh...Hey now! Be nice, I happen to like pulling. My favorite is the 4X4 trucks in the 6500lb class. Single engine, no forced induction, basically a Nascar motor in a truck. I love the indoor pulls. Those trucks get to turning 7or 8K revs and the sound is beautiful. And at idle the sound they make gives me a hard on! This is true grass roots racing in a different form.

Got my wrx last week. Love the car so far. I think I got a great deal although I did get sold on a maintenance program and extended factory warranty. After looking into it I'll probably return both of them and get my 1500 bucks back. First thing I did was swap on the winter wheels and tires. Can't wait to see how it handles snow...if we actually get some.

After looking into it I'll probably return both of them and get my 1500 bucks back. First thing I did was swap on the winter wheels and tires. Can't wait to see how it handles snow...if we actually get some. Keep the maintenance. The 30k service is 600.00 on its own. I have been taking my Crosstrek in at regular intervals (@ 12k miles now) no charges thus far..covers a lot. Warranty cant hurt either...drive it like to stole it! Should be amazing in the snow. We are getting a ton of rain. I like to hit the paddle shifter, drop 2 gears and throttle up pulling freeway on ramps...behaves exceptionally. Did a few rainy 50 mph J turns...nearly went into the passenger seat, but zero slippage. Look into mudflaps...front wheels make nice mud and rain goop rainbows all over the doors. RallyArmour are nice...pricey but nice 190.00. Stick out about 1 1/2 inch and drop nice n low. Love the oil filter location..if i ever decide to do my own oil..haha nope SubaFuckigRoooo So I got sold a 24k mile maintenance plan...yeah go figure get home, look at the book and see that 30k is more serious interval. Everything before is oil, tire rotation and two cabin air filters 515 bucks... no thank you. Decided I'll do it all for about 200 and document well. As for the extended warranty...that I might shop around and purchase prior to the 3 yr 36k bumper to bumper expiring. I did not realize you can shop for the warranties at any dealer and many do better than others. Figure I'll take the 985 warranty money and invest it for the next 3 years. Yeah not a huge fan of mudflaps, but they are growing on me and I'm sure with the summer tires it will cut down on the spray. Right now my winters are 215 vs the summer 235 so it hasn't been an issue. Plan to tint the windows before summer. Might do a Cobb AP and go MAP stage 1. Won't do any bolt ons until warranty is up more than likely.

How the heck do you afford all these toys!? Fortunately I carried no debt graduating college, parents always stressed saving money which I did from a very young age, lived with my parents and banked money for the first couple years of my career, rented a couple years, and bought a house with my wife a couple years later when the buying was good and we didn't own a house. Currently the only debt we carry is a mortgage that we contribute extra principal payments on. We both have average to slightly above average jobs. I used to take about every opportunity I could for overtime And there were a lot. With a newborn I ve starting to slow down on that a bit. When I work OT I don't do it with the goal of buying stuff, my focus has always been saving. All my motorcycles are used and totaled about 12k over years of ownership. A lot of guys spend well over that for 1 bike. I just turned 30 and while the wrx was a huge purchase I plan to drive it for a long time with the assurance almost nothing holds its value better should I decide I really want something else. I'm now focused on investing into retirement. I have a government job so I should (should being an optimistic word) have a pension, but also contribute to a 457. Wife has a 401k. Big goal now is to step up contributions since money sitting in then bank doesn't earn anything now a days and tax savings on deferred comp can be huge. I've always been great at saving, but not big on investing. Hopefully going to work on changing that.

Washed the wrx as we are having some crazy warm weather for Chicago in February. I'm past the 1k break in and am shooting to change the oil before I hit 2k miles. I think I'm going to run pennzoil platinum 5w30 after doing a little forum research.
I really want to keep my warranty, but I don't know if it's going to be possible. The car is peppy, but so far from quick in my opinion. Thing just falls completely flat after 4K rpm. A OTS stage 1 tune would fix that. A stage 2 tune including a turbo back exhaust would would get me from about 222whp to roughly 290whp.
Problem is the fa20 has some weak ass connecting rods and I'm a little concerned about reliability and longevity. Not sure I would want to deal with the headache, not to mention the cost of replacing with a built block shouldnir go caboom.
Probably need to wait at least a year, make sure I put some trouble free miles on it, then bite the bullet and go stage 2. Just wish it was more of a bullet proof motor.

So much for waiting a year...ordered a stage 2 kit from MAPerformance. Intake, full turbo back exhaust, and a Cobb Accessport. Lead time is 2-3 weeks and I'm excited.
