So, the universal rear seat rack and top case I purchased don't...work together? I'll be on the phone tomorrow trying to resolve this one. New saddlebag carriers are in though, and its quite nice having saddlebags that aren't lopsided. Guy on the r3 forum sucks and I didn't get the gel seat I wanted, but the way I look at it, is he saved me 200 bucks to spend on other shit. Ordered new frame sliders with that money and may look into a few other touring goodies. Thinking I'm just going to make this bike into the ultimate little cc commuter/tourer. (more so than it already is ) I was hoping to test out the new top case setup this weekend, but I think I'll be resorting to the tried and true 30L dry bag and bungies... Looking to get out of work early saturday and head up to NH for a night of camping and some quality miles of riding and running.

You absolutely have to write up all your travels and photos in blog format. You are killing it on a "tiny" motorcycle. I fucking love it!

That R3 is the best thing to happen to you since eating a juicy steak. Cheers man I'm mostly jelly about riding in NH, I lived there PB years and always wanted a bike while there.

Mr Scotidi was confused why I've been ringing him up a storm as to why my projector headlight mod looks kinda weak and won't aim higher than my dick on my bike. Unsafe to ride with. He finally agreed to let me send it back and refund the second shipping fee. We'll see what he can do. Hoping nothing is permanently damaged. Otherwise looked cool other than being slightly crooked. upload and share your photos

Youll get what you expected.... Hoping so. Just need it to be able to adjust. Like the look, there are some semi rough cuts that show. Of course, I should have tackled it myself. Having the power to send it off when it's related to my bike isn't worth it, I'll always opt for doing it myself from now on.

Decided to just send back the top case and will be looking for something else. May get a cheapo off ebay and just drill some holes to mount to the rack. Either way, rack is on and is solid as hell. It'll be awesome for strapping down my bags in the mean time. May just decide to skip the top case altogether.

Packed, loaded, and waiting to get out of work to head back home and get my heavy winter gloves. Going to be colder than I anticipated, freeze warnings were just posted for tonight. Sigh...

That didn't really go so well. Hitched a ride halfway back, wife picked me up from there. Bike shut off while going down the highway and wouldn't stay on in gear when I tried restarting. Starts in neutral, but does as soon as I switch into first or second. Pulled the kickstand switches and connectors apart but couldn't figure out anything wrong. Still an adventure I guess... clutch switch? The picture of the bike on that trailer is making me so sketched out.

Trailer was pretty sketchy, but we got it strapped down pretty well and didn't have any issues. Certainly felt better having it in my truck, but after pushing it two miles down the highway, I wasn't going to turn down an offer.
Its either the clutch or kickstand switch. I'm debating bringing it to the dealer or just ordering the parts. Leaning towards just buying some parts the longer I think about it.

Your signature says it all. I am sure it has suffered it's share of abuse. A DVM should help you find the problem pretty quick.

Either the clutch switch or side stand switch can be bypassed with a jumper or just cut and solder the two wires.

sup gents! been a hot minute since I've dropped in - been busy with work and sleeping a lot lol. finally took the 8 out for a spin yesterday. I went over to TST Industries again and they helped me fit a new license plate bracket and light that is tucked up under the tail. I got really tired of having it sticking out the back with the Yoshi bracket. now I just gotta figure out how to make the under side look nice where the OEM holes are. anyone know of an aftermarket tail piece that has the OEM holes blocked off? I was thinking about taking the OEM piece off, using it as a template, and cutting my own new tail piece from some sort of plastic or something...not sure though. ideas are welcome! I hope everyone is doing fantastic. I'll try to drop in more during this summer time period. I decided to say fuck a marketing degree so in the fall I'm going to be headed into the automotive program at my local state college to get my AAS in automotive and also get the Ford ASSET certification - along with that I'm going to get ASE and MECP (car audio) certified so I will be busy busy soon! Not doing a motorcycle tech degree? Diesel? Electrician? I feel like there are other tech degrees that lead to higher pay than auto, but I did not follow the tech path so I can't say for sure. Sorry late reply but eh nah, I don't want to ruin my hobby by making it a career. Plus motorcycle techs really aren't needed as much as a general auto technician. I'm highly considering diesel too - I hear there is a ton of money getting into diesel but only thing I worry about it job stability when drones and planes start taking over the shipping/transporting product world. I'm just gonna knock out the general automotive A.A.S. and go from there!

I did the mecp in my younger days, was offered 8/hr when I got out of school. Went straight back to college. I wouldn't bother adding onto the auto degree unless you want it just for your own personal enrichment. Focus on one specialty and get experience any way you can. Offer to help out at a local shop or take an entry level spot at a dealership to get a foot in the door. Experience and a network will take you pretty far. Just my .02 Sorry late reply as well. Yeah the MECP would just be in case I wanted to transfer to the auto tech position at Best Buy doing car audio installations but I'm not keen on the hours they work so I probably won't even waste my time with the MECP certification. I did ask a local shop who has done a couple of big jobs on my truck already if I could come hang around at the shop and help out and they were totally down for it! They told me they actually hired one of their mechanics straight out of the school I'm going to in the fall so that's super motivating. I'm not too sure if I want to work at an independent shop or a dealer. I'm still on the fence about that if I decide not to go into diesel.

installed the Scotidi headlight projector. I can't tell if the low beam is about right or slightly too low. The high beam seems perfect. My concern is when I brake and the front slams down, so does that light. Anyone have opinions?

Found the culprit(s) of the breakdown. Finally got around to tearing the bike apart today. My chain got in contact with the kickstand switch cable and tore a hole in it. There's also another cable that got stripped right next to it. There's only a single zip tie holding the bundle together, and nothing holding it back away from the sprocket. Shitty combination I suppose. I replaced the kickstand assembly and I'll be ordering the other one tomorrow. It's frustrating, but at least I know it is something I wouldn't have been able to diagnose on the shoulder of the highway, so I do feel better about that. I would've been pissed if I had found it to be something stupid.

Very complicated steps, but it finally shines true on the horizon and I can ride at night as needed.

just cut and soldwr the wires. No sidestand switch wir3s "closed" or strip back the existing ins ulation and fix that one with soldwr and heat shrink and zip tie it snug to the frame. Same with other wire/sensor. No side stand switch on competition bikes! big deal if you ride off with the stand down, first left turn and it folds up anyway. You are probably already ingrained to kick it up before firing anyway.
