Haha, I guess old habits die hard !!!! Always loved the sound of the triple 2 bangers aye !!!! Why not a "Water Bottle" 750? Should last forever with liquid cooling and low revs. We called them Water Buffaloes. There is one running around in my area and I see it from time to time. Still sounds sweet.

The UK nickname for the 750 water cooled was "the kettle" - we reckon you could ride to the coast - empty the radiator and make a cup of Tea !!! Anyway I had one and was dissapointment with it, very heavy and only good in straight line, great big front wheel that wouldn't go round corners and they eventually earned a new nickname of the "widow maker" !!! I swear this bike went faster when you shut the throttle off, only momentarily but it put the shits up you until you got used to it haha
The 550 was a better all round bike, lighter, more responsive, and the sweetest sound from the triple. I would consider a nice example for restoration as this could be my occasional roadie whilst I get my speed fix at the track on the Gixxer !!

And today I changed the brake fluid - a simple job but some riders don't like to tackle this. A few little tips - Rags, rags, and more rags to catch any stray brake fluid as this stuff will strip your paint faster than a hooker if you fall asleep. And then buy a good quality spanner that fits tightly in the bleed nipple. buy brake fluid of a different colour to what's already in and use clear pipe, this way you can see when the old is out completely - so i went from brown to blue this time - check the colour of the fluid in the bottle to the fluid in the pipe on the rear brake photo. Lastly - bleed - bleed - bleed and continue to bleed until all air bubbles are gone - once you are certain you are bleeding with the new fluid - you can catch this in a clean bottle and use it to continue to push the fluid through - this way you will not throw good fluid away !!!

Looks like you have a good handle on pulling her back together. I am really hoping I can find a cover like that for the tank I chose for the RZ (2000 R6). Lets see that trailer loaded up!! Dennis Only thing left now is body work and paint, and getting my other set of forks back from FBI with new seals, valves and springs. They EFI i think makes two side tank covers for that year R6, they are about $180.

Drill and put a set screw in them as well , it will keep the wrench from slipping off and then you can just twist open to close much easier.

Watched it sit outside on a beautiful fall day while I racked up overtime. Bitter sweet. I love making money, but I love riding.

That special spanner is called a flare nut wrench. It is used on fittings that are like fuel lines and A/C fittings. I have a few from my days of playing with carbs on cars.

Hi Blanchy, Repco, Supercheap or where for the spanner, had a quick look but nothing ? Bunnings don't have them. Repco may or a Specialist Tool Shop? My Dad had some but don't know what he did with them. Wave down a Snap On Truck and get ready to pay big $$$

Booked a hotel in Knoxville for Thanksgiving weekend. If the weather holds up, I'll be making a dragon trip. Weather's gotta be real nice though.. 10 hrs from home to Knoxville would suck in the cold.
